One window.
Everything in reach.
Syrinx is an open-source desktop web browser for Windows 11, written in Rust. Vertical tabs, favourite sites, and your page in front of you. What sets it apart is that your tools open in the same place.
One command palette for everything.
Press Ctrl K to search open tabs, saved pages, history, notes and plugin commands and content. Matches are highlighted, with a preview alongside. Plugin search is coming soon with plugins.
Prefixes narrow your search: > for commands, @ for plugins, / for open tabs. The palette is also your address bar. Alt Enter searches the web.
Planned plugin commands can show small inline forms: type “lead”, enter a name and company, and create the lead without opening a tab.
Plugins are tabs. Coming soon
Forge, Notes and Fledge open alongside your web pages. A plugin tab shows its context, such as “Forge · my-project”. Close it and the plugin stays in the sidebar, dimmed and ready to reopen.
The built-ins use the same public interface as third-party plugins: the same tab, the same palette commands and the same search.
Explore the built-in plugins ↗Five themes. Your own accent.
Graphite, Haze, Glass, Tint and Paper set the tone. Pick your accent separately. Transparent themes keep web pages solid; Reduce transparency replaces Haze and Glass with Graphite.
Find your theme ↗Local-first and private.
Tabs, history, saved pages and settings live in a local database with daily snapshots. Search ranks what is already on your machine. Keystrokes are not sent away while you search.
Optional page-text memory helps you find a page by what it said. The text expires after seven days. Google sites, banking and payment sites, and your own exclusions are not captured. Usage counts stay on your machine unless you export them.
Understand your data ↗Modern web, familiar engine.
Pages render in Microsoft’s Edge WebView2 engine, the foundation for modern sites, sign-ins and streaming. Website compatibility also depends on each site and the installed runtime.
The first version has limits.
Windows 11 only. No Chrome extensions, built-in password manager or ad blocker. Forge, Notes, Fledge and third-party plugins are coming soon.
